I live in the Long Lake subdivision off of the intersection of Glenwood Ave/Rte 70 and Country Trail. Nearly every day between noon and 2pm there is a single rumbling that shakes my house. I assume it's a blast? From a quarry? Today's was stronger than most and made things inside the house move. What is going on - does anyone know?

Probably from the rock quarry that is 2 miles from your house. BTW, that quarry has existed for at least 20 years.

It's blasting at the quarry. I used to live over there and some days it felt like an earthquake!

Thanks - yes aware of the quarry off of Ebenezer Church Rd - today's blast was different from others - have lived in this area 5 years and never have had stuff move in the house.

Sometimes the blasts are farther away in the quarry or deeper in the quarry than others. I lived with them daily for about 8 years! Most of the blasts were light blasts, but every once in a while there would ba doozy of one! It scared the crap out of me the first tme I felt one of those!

I was wondering if anyone noticed cracks in their foundation and pavement around the house cracking. Their has got to be some type of long term structure damage gradually occurring.

No, I never did. Ad I know in my old neighborhood they hired an engineer to inspect the homes for damage related to the blasts (trying to get the quarry to close down) and they could never find any damage or prove that there was any risk, and we lived right across the street.

Stop by the quarry off Ebenezer tomorrow and tell them to go easy on Yonkers?
