My Mom is moving from Fort Lauderdale to Raleigh so that we can be closer. She is looking for an independent living situation for now and possibly more assistance in the future. Mom is 88 and currently quite self relient.

We live in North Raleigh (off 540 by Leesville Road) and will need someplace close to us. Unfortunately our home is not conducive to her living with us (stairs) and our moving is not an option at this time.

Any recommendations or input will be greatly appreciated. We are at ground zero in our search and have no experience with these facilities.

Thanks for your help.

They are building a new assisted living place on Cary Pkwy and Chapel hill Rd in Cary.

Only reason I know about it is cause I drive past it on the way to work.

Alta Oakridge could work. My folks may be moving there soon. We've been impressed with what they offer.

The Independent Living facilities from Holiday Retirement are quite nice. I don't know if there's one close enough for you:

I don't know much about the place, but there is The Cypress at the intersection of Strickland/Lead Mine. My inlaws have friends who live in there and they really seem to like it - lots of activities & all levels of "reliance."
