River Bend is new, under construction. Classes are at the Millbrook HS site until the school is completed.

Looks like they are near the East Millbrook MS now, not Millbrook HS. They have one more year there.

From the school website (broken link):

River Bend Elementary School is currently housed in a temporary facility located at 3851 Spring Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27616. In July, 2008, we will move into our permanent "brick and mortar" school located near the intersection of Fox Road and Louisburg Road near the new Wake Technical Community College campus.

Default Re: Winchester and other schools

I l ive in Winchester- it is a very nice neighborhood. We all look out for each other. the HOA is good too and reasonable.

As for schools - I hated Wilburn. My daughter was there for K and 1st grade- Maybe I got stuck with bad teachers (one was good but she quit) but it was mostly the adminstration.. I have no idea if it has a new principal/staff but I am much more pleased with Riverbend. The Asst principal at Riverbend is great.. the principal is ok, too but the Asst. prin is really great. The teachers are good and my daughter likes it. I would not recommend Wilburn or Fox Road (actually not an option for Winchester unless things have changed) .

Also, Riverbend recently had a a DROP in enrollment-- they actually dropped a track because a certain group of familes chose to go to traditional schools further out.

Hope that helps

River Bend will be in the "5401 north Development" off of 540 and Louisburg road. A large mixed used project the schools will be first opening next fall technically followed by city recreation center and pools, business, single family and townhomes, condos, active living for 55+ movie theater. Kind of a self contained world. website here >>5401north.com

North East Raleigh is just so hot right now for growth, you have know idea. I bought a new home in the area last october and love seeing it take place before my eyes.
