NRG: Congrats! You are all set. Let us know when and where you plan to play. Hey, they'd appreciate hearing you at the bus station on Moore Sq. Perhaps you could play at City Market? It should echo pretty well around those old buildings and narrow streets.
How about contacting the Oakwood folks for the Oakwood Candlelight Tour: Historic Oakwood - Raleigh, North Carolina (http://www.historicoakwood.org/candlelighttour2008.php - broken link)
They have a choir, dressed in 1800's garb, that plays throughout the neighborhood during the tour.
There's a little (tiny) park there, where kids (and adults) sell hot cider, and across the street is a PortaPottie (so people are sure to show up there).
Maybe you could play Christmas tunes at that park.
Thanks I will check that out! I headed down to the new City Plaza on Sunday. Spent an hour or so playing some Christmas music on the warm and Sunny Sunday Afternoon. It felt good to play outside with the downtown vibe. It was pretty quiet being a Sunday, but there was some foot traffic from the new Marriott Hotel. A few nice folks took pity on me and I made a few bucks (all going to charity).
