Yeah, it's coming down pretty seriously here in SW Durham... But the ground is pretty warm, so it's not sticking too well. It's a heavy, wet snow... Temperature must be hovering RIGHT above freezing.
Woo hoo! Never living up north did I think I'd be this excited about snow. Moved car to top of hill in complex (they don't salt/plow), ran dog around in snow already, settling in and hope to get a foot!
comin down at a good rate here in E.Raleigh started abt 20 mins ago...was gonna go to Planet fitness to work out...but have opted to use the apt complex clubhouse amenities instead...a short walk...
Our little Southern dog apparently has no memory of snow. Tonight, he jumped from it like it was alive and trying to get him, and he quickly came back in the house. It's stopped now, but it seemed to stick on everything, including the grass.
My partner just gave me a call to let me know they are saying we may have a snow/ice storm this weekend. Any bets if this is just hype for ratings or if this is for real?
It looks like it was much more hype than storm. There isn't much out there now and very little on the ground.
Yes. I guess we will see how things develop today, but I am a little underwhelmed with the amount of snow we got compared to what they were predicting. Still, it is nice to have a little snow.
I think there's about 3" of snow/sleet on the ground at my house. For some reason there is no snow at all stuck to any of the plants/trees/shrubs, which seems odd to me. I guess it either blew off, or the sleet knocked it off.
On the plus side, if you're a backyard bird feeder - I tossed a bunch of seed out on the snow this morning and I've got tons of birds out there having breakfast. Much easier to see them against the snow than the mix of dirt/leaves/pine needles that my backyard is covered in!
Sleet coming down heavily here right now in South Cary.
