One of the things I hope to accomplish upon moving to the area is to meet new people and hopefully make new friends. For me, as a single adult, it is important for me to forge new relationships and feel apart as much as possible. I have been reading the board for some time and some people have said folks seem stand-offish or even unwelcoming but others have said that people are friendly. I have visited a couple of times and personally I have been amazed at how down to earth and friendly people area. I would really like to hear your perception of people there and how easy or difficult it has been for you. Thanks.

I moved to raleigh in 2001 and had no problem meeting people...if there is anything that you like doing, try & find groups with the same interest(s)...I am a big hockey fan & I went to games, etc & 'found' my firends that way...I never had a problem with others here (except one that I work with but then she is a different story) being unwelcoming or anything...

After years and years of moving around and always having a large circle of diverse friends and groups of friends, I am again moving and again starting my network of really great people. Like that cell phone commercial, if you are in my network it can be a good thing. As a single person do you find the marrieds are always trying to fix you up. When I was single I hated that.

I think someone in an earlier post mentioned this really great website...I think it was
Meetup: World's largest community of local Meetups, clubs and groups!

I typed it in for my current area and it worked like a charm!
