How often do you need to do this? I got my renewal notice in the mail yesterday and didn't say anything about an inspection, but when I went to the website to pay it said "please make sure your vehicle is properly inspected before proceeding" so do I need to do this every year or will there be a note on the renewal if I need to? sorry if this seems like a stupid question, we're from California and I'm use to how they do it there. TIA

annual inspections are required. You can make an appointment with lots of places or find a stand-a-lone inspection place to take it - the one I like to go to is in Wake Forest at the Factory - that is all they do, so they aren't out to sell you tires or whatnot...

Renewed on line last week and did not have my car inspected, they sent me the new sticker. So I went down to the inspection station and they told me if they sent you the sticker your good. I think they are wrong, I'm a little concerned I my get a ticket. Should I just go and have it done ?

You're good. Registration (or denial thereof) is now the enforcement mechanism. Your new registration will list when your inspection is next due. The police will have nothing to cite you for.

Yes you have to get inspections every year, even for a newer car. What a racket. Instead of cars, it'd be more useful to require annual driving tests... It would keep our roads here a lot safer than making sure the car horn works on your 2008 Lexus!

Your registration card will have the date for inspection. They changed the system recently. No more stickers on the windshield.
