I wish Iknew of a site that could direct me to certain subdivisions to look thru...right now i"m just doing local searches at Realtor.com and you have to go into every listing to see what subd. it is and what County it is located in...so its hard for me to find the time to sit down and find listings in the Olde Brassfield subd, but I do remember when I first looked I did see that name pop up a few times.

I just really need to get out there and see what everything looks like for myself. All towns have a "bad part" as far as I"m concerned, .... as long as there are "good parts" too I guess is what is important.
I use Moderator cut: no links to real estate sites, per TOS. Then go in and you can put zip codes, names of subdivisions, and also schools. I like searching by subdivisions as well - it is a good site IMO.

Yep, you have to see it for yourself as only you know for sure what is best for you.

Thanks!!! I'll check it out!

Also a question about the diff. elementary schools for that town?? I have seen 3 different elem. schools listed for this town and I"m confused. I get the 2 diff. counties...but I see in Franklin Co there are Franklin Elem and then something called Long Mill listed on some, and then of course the other county has Wilton.....
I have not read good things about Franklin but never heard of anyone mention this Long Mill...thoughts?

There are 3 different schools off of 56. Wilton is in Franklinton, Mount Energy is in Creedmoor, and Creedmoor Elementary is in Creedmoor as well. These are all in Granville County. They are all within a few miles of each other. I would rate them as Wilton #1, Mount Energy #2 and Creedmoor Elem as #3. Please know this is based on my own opinion and those who I know in the area in regards to these 3 schools.

I do not know anything about Long Mill so hopefully someone else can help out there. I just think if you are at the price point of 250k to 300k I certainly would make sure that you keep schools in mind.

If you didn't get the link before the Mod cut it send me a direct message.

Franklinton has always been mostly farmland with some homes scattered thru-out it. Personally, I like the small town feel and the countryside. It sounds like it might be for you but....you should research school options, commute, conveniences more thoroughly. There are trade off's being so far out. Long-term, will all the people moving here (100 per day) to Wake County, growth will reach Franklinton and land values will increase at a higher rate. But so will other outlying areas of the triangle.

You should also take a look at Zebulon and Wendell, they are mostly in Wake County but some rural parts are in Johnston Co, they are similar in many ways to F but have more routes for getting into Raleigh. And can be accessed on the 64 bypass. A 20-40 mins commute to downtown raleigh. I find the commute from these towns way quicker and easier that from F.

As for the Franklinton commute, here's an example. A co-worker who lived in the center of Wake Forest (15-20 mins south of Franklinton) and drove daily to downtown Raleigh said some days, rarely, she could make it in 35mins. Some days it took 50mins. She went on Capital Blvd, a very congested road. So, for location, I would say it's one of the longer commutes you'll find in the triangle.

Gotcha, thanks!
I have no idea where my husband would be traveling too at this early point in time.
I know these are all questions to address to a Realtor at some point, but I certainly don't want to get involved with one this early when we don't even know for sure this is going to happen.

I do figure that if Wake Forest has grown so much in the past years (in articles I have recently read anyway) that maybe someday that growth will go into Franklinton.

I did find a few homes in Wendell that looked very nice so I have that area written down as well. Haven't looked at anything in Zebulon, but will start!

Thanks everyone

My husband did not end up getting transfered out there; we are now happily living in San Antonio TX!

Nothing like doing tons of research on an area we never ended up in huh? Oh well....but the house i was extrememly inlove in with in Ironwood sold pretty quickly after I found it online, and it looked like some around it were pending sale as well.
