Just because your last name ends with an "O" and you're of "eye-talian" descent some think you must be mafia!
LMAO! That is hysterical!
**When you order Iced Tea, take a sip and immediately spit it out because it has about 5 gallons of sugar in it**
**For breakfast you'd rather have potatoes than grits**
**You get freaked out when strangers in public talk to you**
I could go on and on...LOL. I KNOW I am a transplant!!!!
hmmm...I'm soon to be a transplant and I'd tell my life story to a brick wall--if I can't get any strangers to listen that is. Of course I'm coming from farther south than alot of transplants.
I LOVE sweet tea. We've got a BBQ (yes, TX style BBQ) place here that only serves it sweet unless you tell them otherwise. As far as snow shovels, we'll be the crazy people outside at midnight if that's when the snow the first time because my boys have only seen snow on TV. And pollen, my live oaks are dripping it right now so that will feel just like home to us! Looking forward to some "tall, tall trees" though, love pine!

Help a Brit out. So where is it you are from that strangers don't talk to each other? Is it the concensus that only ppl in the South talk to strangers?
I'm coming from Cleveland, OH and it's generally "head down and mind your own business" in these parts. At least in my experience. It's a little bit easier to start up a conversation at the bar. Hopefully it'll be a bit friendlier in Durham when we move down at the end of the month.

Interesting, I hadn't thought of Cleveland being like that. Not that I know anything about the City. Maybe I watched too many Drew Carey shows
You will find it different here. And ppl are more likely to talk to you in line, walking by them on the street, and holidays...when everyone is happier.
The weather will be perfect for a Durham Bulls home game by the time you move here..go before it really heats up! Afterwards, go over to the Tobacco Complex, maybe Tyler's Tap Room for dinner, drinks. Sit outside if you can, it'll be lovely. Welcome!
