I'm looking to get a quote for Simonton vinyl replacement windows (including installation). Can anyone recommend a local company that works with Simonton?

Thanks!

If you call a supply house, they can refer you to contractors who buy and install a lot of Simonton windows.

Simonton windows are sold at wholesale warehouses who often handle multiple brands, and contractors buy them and install them.

Time to update my thread.. the installation of new Simonton 5500's windows was completed today. Thanks to Mike J. for suggesting I contact building supply places as it was Howard Building Supply that referred me to the contractor I eventually chose. I also made sure he was certified by Progress Energy so I could get my $450 rebate (on top of the $1500 tax credit).

I went back and forth on independent contractor vs. large company and eventually took a chance and went with the "little guy." I will say it was nice to work with the man who would be installing the windows and not a slick salesperson (and a random install crew later). The price was very competitive as well - I'm a bit amazed how little it wound up costing me for 18 windows after the rebate/tax credit. I'd post some pictures but I need to get my house painted first.

Anyhow, if anyone is window shopping (hah) and would like a Simonton contractor's info feel free to PM me!

PS - I keep walking around and randomly opening windows just for the heck of it - so much better than the crummy mostly-stuck drafty wood windows I had before! Bring on the cold weather.. I'm ready for it now!

New windows are absolutely amazing, aren't they? My Gorrell windows have been in for about 3 weeks now. The heat difference inside my house is amazing. Both of my programmable thermostats are set to change at 630am to 80 degrees. Before the window installation on days like today the temp. inside would be 80 degrees around 2pm. Today the hottest my house got was 78 degrees! That means the a/c never turned on until the preset time of 5pm to bring the temp. down to 72.
Like you, I went with a local contractor. The contractor wasn't the cheapest but he did match the price of another local contractor which was $2500 cheaper. Neither quote was the cheapest but I felt like they were the most honest. The contractor's crew also was comprised of English-speaking locals. The owner of the company was also the estimator so there was no "smooth-talking" sales pitches which was great since I already knew what I wanted. I couldn't be happier with the windows and especially the installation and the company that performed it.
