Doesn't hurt to have someone familiar with the process, but don't just hire one. Actually do some research, interview a few, and hire someone familiar with new construction.
I'd recommend you hire your own. The builder represents his interests as will the builders listing agent.
There are still things you may want in contract like closing costs, upgrades, etc they can help negotiate, as well as financing contingencies. Inspections, etc.
