Now I feel insulted. My husband and I have been very good to one Realtor for the past 9 years. We have bought 5 houses, cash deals with no inspections, and also had her list 5 houses and she has never given us a gift. It actually did cause a rift with us at one time when she told us how she was taking one of her clients out to dinner
Heck I would have been happy with a card.
I wouldn't feel insulted. Many agents don't do closing gifts. Heck, the best agent I know (when he was active) would close a couple hundred a year and never gave a closing gift. If you have an agent that does a great job, be happy you found her.

Why do you feel insulted? Your agent is a professional and did the job you paid them for, and apparently did the jobs well.
I don't give gifts to my clients because I feel that it cheapens what I do. Lawyers don't give their clients gifts, do they? I feel like the real estate profession has been cheapened by things like this.
To each their own, but I truly prefer to keep it professional. My clients are all incredibly close friends of mine after the transactions too.

She's great on the buying end but stinks at the selling end.
I felt insulted when I heard she was taking other clients out for dinners, especially when we were a dream client. How many cash deals with no inspections do you really get?
Not sure I understand. You have to buy a gift card through the Lowes' Realtor website to have it mailed (along with a discount coupon). It's not automatic or free. Did you have a different program?
No not at all RJ... I found that out a long time ago .. I've owned several properties over the years for myself. Always got a "gift cadr/coupon" type thing in the mail "for your new home" etc. etc. Pretty decent too, $25 to $50. I believe Home Depot was doing it for awhile as well. You wouldn't hear about it because it goes directly to the new buyer's address a few weeks after move in. They must get the recorded deed's information from the GIS system online, or have another method. True.
FYI, they (Lowes) also have a realtor program where a branded, personalized discount card, a newsletter, etc. will be sent out to customers you sign up on their website.

Yes, I know; but that seems to be on the tacky side imho. I would much rather spend $75 to $100 for a gift that requires a lot of thought, tailored to the tastes or needs of the buyers. A few times, I even did some babysitting for clients who had little ones so they could escape the boxes and stress of moving, to go out for dinner or a show. So it all depends on what I think the buyers would like.

Sometimes agents have "appointments" or "clients" when it's really family or friends time and they don't want to tell a true client that. I'm "booked" on some saturday's when I am taking a day off. You do sound like a dream client. Now I don't know what the real deal is with your agent but you're definitely assuming the worst. I'm just pointing out that it may be something else. And yes, some agents are much better at one side or the other so if you have a good buyer agent keep using her.
I always buy a nice gift for my Buyers, often it's a 1 year home warranty policy, and always deliver flowers and a gift certificate for a fine dinner to them the day after recordation.
