What time frame does a buyer usually request to do inspections?

I'm thinking 14 days is what I have done in the past. I'm the seller, buyer is asking for 20 business days.

Any input would be appreciated

Sounds like it depends on where you are located.
Here on Long Island (NY) it's customary to do the inspection after an accepted offer but before the contract is signed; it's usually within 24 - 48 hrs, with holidays maybe an extra day or two.

I write almost every contract for 10 days from ratification, maybe 14, if around a holiday or in an odd circumstance

17 days is standard on our contracts. But in a competitive situation it's better to make it shorter, 7-10 days.

In Florida, the default inspection period is 15 days after the contract is fully executed (signed and accepted by buyer and seller). However, it is not unheard to change the inspection period if both parties consent.

Pretty sure California us 17 days but I have see it anywhere from 5 and up. I was told I had to do my inspection within 5 days when I was looking at a house. I declined. They came back with take 14 days we don't mind.

In my market, average was about 10 days, now it's about 5 days, but many buyers are waiving inspections because of multiple offers, as there are other ways out of the Texas contract like HOA or Title work and things like that.

What are buyers doing when these other "ways out" do not occur and they find there are major deficiencies with the home that could have been found with an inspection?

It is written into the AZ contract by default at 10 days and a blank line is left if the buyer would like something different. During our busy season I often write 12 days as it can be tough to get an inspector in within the 10 day time frame.

FYI

-In AZ it is 10 days total (Not business days)
-Inspection period starts the day after the contract is signed.
-Sometimes you have to be strategic as you can lose 4 days to weekends depending on when the contract is signed and inspection starts.
