Curious, I looked up my house that I just bought a couple of months ago.
Had a great laugh. I am one of the smallest homes on my street and the cheapest. But somehow I became the most expensive home on the street. And that's quite a feat as most of the houses are an entire thousand sq feet larger and yet my house "zillow" assessment was higher than there.
There's Zillow for you. Oh but they did get my purchase price correct but off by $200,000 on the zillow estimate.
Never rely on Zillow for accurate information. Ask a realtor or research it online with your local county property appraiser.
I believe the OP lives here in MA as they are a frequent poster in the MA forum. Most of our government is done at the town/city or state level. We don't really have any county government.

MA is a state where land records are public. So, if the OP looks on the website for that county's registry of deeds then they can see not only the deed which would show the sale price but also all the mortgage documents and anything else recorded against the property.
Zillow lies as much as a sleazy guy trying to get a girl to sleep with him on the first date. Never trust it
I wouldn't say they lie - it's mostly programmed to suck up data from the various state MLS'. Sometimes, there are glitches with the program and how it gets into Zillow, and other times it could be a PICNIC problem (Problem In Chair, Not In Computer - meaning, somebody input it wrong. Most of the times it would be a typo, but I would imagine that there could be intentionally wrong input as well.)
Here in my county in FL, you can look every property up on the tax collector site for the history if you're doubtful.
If you put in a random address NOT for sale, they'll give you that property's history and comps OR not even the history sometimes.
