My mother and I buried one when she was trying to sell her house out in the Hill country that was going to be a sell to a particular type. 18 acres unfenced; House was huge, 3 stories, 4 bedrooms 2 1/2 bath main house, guest house 1/1, detached garage, and my mother had painted murals on any surface in the house, walls, floors, doors, ceilings, etc. 2 months on the market without offers, just a few showings. We buried the statue that I ordered on Amazon, next week 3 more showings and an almost full price offer. We're not Catholic btw, and she was dubious, but I pointed out our superstitious Irish roots and she was on board.
Not to steal any of St. Joseph's thunder but I think I'm pretty good at selling homes without any divine assistance. Divine inspiration, yes.....assistance, no.
Edit: OTOH, when I do ask for assistance...I go right to the top.....no middle man for me.

Thanks for a Fun Story, citing Irish roots and all...
I believe, very much, in asking St Joseph to help sell a house. I dont know about burying the statue but maybe, as people do that, they also talk to St Joseph and ask him to help.
My best friend is St Jude, patron saint of impossible cases. I talk to him daily and ask for help in deciding what to do or in getting things done successfully. I'm a very logical person and was an analyst throughout my entire career, so you'd expect me to be somewhat cynical about things like this. But St Jude has come through for me in situations that no one would have thought possible.
I personally know someone that had a house in a rather bad town and had her house for sale for quite some time. She couldn't hold on to it anymore as she was making 2 mortgage payments at that point. There were very few showings and no offers. She did the statue thing, said a prayer and the house sold within a week and yes she was Catholic.
I always smile when I see them for sale at our MLS store, but I've never purchased one:
