Turnoffs that many others like:

- Kitchen islands
- Media/entertainment rooms
-Wine storage cellars or built-in units
-Lots of bedrooms
-Ginormous master bedrooms, at the expense of other rooms' space
- Master baths that are anything more than a standard (1 sink, 1 shower/bath, 1 toilet) inside or solely accessible from the master bedroom

Positives that are not seen as such by others:

- More garage than house space
- NO computer master panel that controls heating, light, etc
- Combined shower-tub stalls, not separate units
- NO built-in movie screens, audio components, etc.

Love all the replies, even though I do disagree with about half of them!

Pool is a must. Why yesterday in 96+ degrees, we had a nice dip in the pool. So worth it.

Fireplace was on my wishlist as well though I live in Texas.

Things I dislike that others like?

Stainless steel
Open concept
"clean lines" / minimalist style
No tub in baths
No carpet in bedrooms
Detached garage
Most neutral colors except grey, particularly beige/tan

I don't like a huge home. It's not the cost. Some homes are just too big for me. I also don't like a lot of fancy landscaping that I would have to take care of. I don't like stainless steel appliances or gas stoves. I don't like two story homes or any steps at all.

I do like 1960's and 1970's homes and even decor from that era if done tastefully. I like ceiling fans with light kits in every room. I like my two bedroom house better than a three bedroom house.

Vessel sinks. HATE THEM.

Oil rubbed bronze anything.

Glass mosaic tile backsplashes.

Dark wood in kitchens.

Travertine.

Swimming pools.

Stainless steel.

Vaulted ceilings.

Siding on any house that has a brick facade in front. I hate siding.

Wrought iron fences.

Like skylight windows, actually windows, windows and more window, the bigger the better.

Pantries, lots of cabinets in kitchens rather than open space.

Funky odd spaces. I looked at a house with a telephone booth built in. Considered it an interesting plus.

Built in bookcases.

Dislike pedestal bathroom sinks.

New houses. Give me a 100 year old house. I love character.

Before I moved here, I lived in a 40-50 year old cookie cutter house.
