I don't get the desire to use Oro Viejo or even Luna Bella. You'll constantly have to "translate" them to newcomers.
To my way of thinking, that's an advantage. Not that we have a lot of newcomers coming into our house. Our visitors are family and the same friends I've known for years. But if someone new moves into the neighborhood and stops by, translating the sign gives us an ice breaker. That's a good thing.

Luna Bella (or Loon A'Bella, depending on how we spell it) is a play on both the loons and the moon. If you drove down my street, you'd see these are very obvious features. Especially if you drive down my street in the summer when the full moon is rising right over my house. Thanks to the rises and dips on our hilly street it can be huge.
Oro Viejo references the fall leaves (most of our trees have the gold tones). And the fact that we're old, LOL.

So we picked a name out of a hat, and Wonomoco is the winner!
Thanks to the person who suggested it and to all the rest of you for making this a fun thread. Some great suggestions! I would never have thought of a name like that on my own. Now, we just have to wait for my friend to make the sign. The good news is she's waiting until after the holidays, which means we have 5 weeks or so to see if the name sticks. But I think it will.
Great! Have fun with it. (I won, I won, I won........LOL).
Yeah, that was a truly inspired idea. Wonomoco is so much fun to say, especially when you're hanging out with the neighbors and we've all had a few beers.
I loved that name also. I guess now when I name my next house it will have to be Wonomoco II.
