We're looking at selling our home in MA to relocate to OK. I know that the seller is not required to use an attorney. The broker we are using said she could look over the Purchase and Sale for us (though she says they're pretty much standard form). While she isn't suggesting we use or don't use an attorney, I'm wondering if it isn't wise to have an attorney for some/all of the closing? I understand that the Buyer's attorney makes sure that things are taken care of because the house has to be paid off and the title clear, but since they don't represent our (the seller's) interest, I'm wondering if we should lay out the money for an attorney anyway.
Anyone have any experience/thoughts on the subject?
I would in order to be assured that my interests are protected and that there are no loose ends once the transaction has closed. Having a good real estate attorney may give you peace of mind when making when leaving one region for another.
