I went to a showing and they hadn't cleaned up at all. There was a full garbage can with no lid, and plates with chicken bones on the coffee table. Just thought I'd share that... Because it was so gross.

It's at least nice to know there are sellers in the world who actually do "prepare" for people to come in and see their home.

Best of luck with selling your home.

Agree. With the huge number of houses for sale when we were buying, the online visual tours were a huge asset. There was no way we could even drive by the hundreds of houses meeting our parameters. And, I was certainly not going to check up on a frequent bases as to who was having an open house on any weekend. What would be the purpose when my realtor could just make the arrangements for a showing.

I attended open houses only when there were large numbers in a prime neighborhood (my realtor went with me). It was nice to be able to quickly sort through over a dozen homes without having to make appointments. However, I would not bother for only one or two houses in the area.

Open houses are pretty much a complete waste of time. Really the only people that show up are people on sunday drives wanting to look at houses for fun, or nosy neighbors that just want to see what your house looks like.
