Like my dear old dad used to say: "Why eat chili if it doesn't make you fart?" He loved his chili with pintos.

I use Pinto, kidney, even great northern once and they are ALL good in chili As you know the flavor comes from the seasoning
I use
Ground Turkey, Beef, or Vegetarian taco mix
Chili Powder (I never have time to cook down the chilis from scratch) 1 Container
Black Pepper
Sage
Cumin
Garlic (Chopped)
pinch of powdered oregano
no salt for me
A red or sweet onion Finely CHopped
2 or 3 chopped jalepeno (Remove seeds if you want your chili mild, leave them in if u want spicy hot)
Place in slow cooker

Without beans it is meat sauce for hotdogs.

I knew it wouldn't take long for the "if it has beans it isn't chili" post, and I could have added it would be a person from Texas.

We always cook chili and beans separate. We mix them in our bowls as we like. They really belong together in the end. We do combine them in containers sometimes for leftovers. I am Texas!
