they must have been on sale last year but I can't remember why I bought them. What recipes do you use for fresh cranberries?

You could make cranberry sauce or use the berries in muffins/quick bread recipes.

I personally do not like cranberries, but I make my husband a cranberry jello salad with orange peel and chopped pecans (some other stuff I'm not remembering right now), and it was his Mother's recipe. He loves it so I happily make it for him, but I wouldn't touch it. I cook the berries with some sugar (Splenda) until they just start to pop, and then go from there. It seems like a shame to use the canned cranberry stuff when so many fresh ones are available.

That's about it for me. I like cranberries but I don't love them. There are thousands of recipes on the internet but I don't really want an apple cranberry pie or cranberry pancakes.

Default Raw Cranberry Congealed Salad

A food grinder is needed. I use one that attaches to my KitchenAid mixer.

2 cups washed whole cranberries
1 small can crushed pineapple
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sugar
1 whole orange
2 pkgs plain gelatin
1 pkg strawberry Jello

Mix Jello with sugar and 1 cup hot water. Mix until dissolved and let cool.
Grind the cranberries and the orange. (Yes, the whole orange, including the peel. )
Mix the cranberries and orange with the Jello. Mix the plain gelatin with 1/4 cup cold water and add to the Jello with the pecans and pineapple.
Refrigerate until firm.

This is a Thanksgiving staple at our house. I make it the day before. The cranberries add zing and the other ingredients sweetness, with crunch from the pecans.

That reminds me. My pecan stash in the freezer is about gone --- and they are dang expensive. I understand we ship most of the US crop overseas.

Make bread pudding (easiest thing to make ever) and use them in there instead of raisins.

Love cranberry orange bread. I keep a loaf or two in the freezer for use through the holidays. Great toasted or plain with butter. I usually make date nut bread too, and serve them both together.

Don't care for cranberries! I would string them for Christmas decorations or put them in a vase for a pretty centerpiece!

I found a bag in my freezer too! I love homemade cranberry sauce and have a recipe I use every year. I will probably make my cranberry sauce this weekend. The berries do not look like they have freezer burn so I hope they are ok
