Tango, Lolla Rosa, Red & Green Romaine, Red & Green Oak, Red & Green Chard, Spinach, Mizuna, Radicchio, Frisee, Beet Greens, Arugula, Tat-Soi, Red Mustard
The above is usually from Olivia's Organics, it's picked, separated, dried, and prepackaged raw organic "Spring Mix". If Olivia's isn't available, I get the supermarket's version, which probably doesn't have the oak or mizuna in it and is mostly romaine and baby spinach, with some frisee, arugula, and tango.
and for herbs I always add dill weed and oregano, sometimes fresh parsley (never dried). I also always mince up a garlic clove when I make the dressing, which is balsamic vinegar and olive oil, the garlic, cracked black pepper, and a pinch of salt.
Berbere seasoning along with oil and vinegar is a nice kick. I also shake up whatever spice blend I'm in the mood for in with some oil and balsamic, and use that. I generally always use homemade dressing at home.
I would like to know the name of a few that are being used(if any). I was never into salads before but am now starting to make some. Any ideas help.
Lots of good ones to use: of course the first thing that comes to mind, for me, is salt, pepper, a few red pepper flakes to all a kick, and garlic powder, if you don't use garlic in some other way when making salad. As for other herbs and spices, a little nutmeg sometimes, depending on what kind of salad you are making and most of all, parsley, basil, grated ginger and dill. And when making fruit salad I use cinnamon.
typically, S&P and a little dried oregano, fresh chopped chives, and dressed with fresh lemon juice and olive oil. I'll add fresh dill to it if I have it.
