If you have no sugar in the house for your morning cereal/oatmeal (or if you're trying to reduce sugar intake) ...

Sprinkle cinnamon on it.

If you want to peel a hard boiled egg, whack it all around with the back of a spoon. Then roll the egg between the palms of your hands to loosen the shell. You can then peel it easily.

(That's after the eggs have cooled in ice water, obviously.)

Bananas keep longer in the fridge , the skins will turn dark but the insides will be fine . Just don't put green ones in the fridge they'll never ripen .

you can freeze bananas right in their skin and when they defrost just squeeze out the good stuff into your recipe.

The perfect Jasmine rice in 20 minutes in the microwave.

Using the 1:2 ratio, 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 15 minutes then reduce to defrost mode for 5 minutes. Cover the bowl and allow to rest for at least 5-10 minutes.

I have tried this 2 times now at this writing and the rice was perfect both times.

Remember to use a bowl that is sufficiently deep; otherwise, the water will boil over. The rice covered approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottom of the bowl that I used. Also, do not cover the bowl while cooking the rice.

In experimented with a lower-carb version of stuffed cabbage this week, using mixed lentils instead of rice with my pork/beef mix. Wife said it was best stuffed cabbage she'd had, enjoying the texture and the bit of sweetness the lentils provided. I guess it's a keeper and a little more than only half the carbs.
