I think you could easily do a simple syrup with sugar and water as a substitute but I don’t know what the ratios would be. Corn syrup would probably be okay.

Never buy groceries on Amazon. Walmart.com was selling it for about $9 for a 16 oz bottle.

For me, maple syrup is free as we make our own.

While Louisiana has a lot of interesting food producers, a lot of times their distribution is weak. I have four or five Louisiana products in my pantry and each one of them requires me to order from their website. Amazon carries a 20-50% premium.

Maple is a great ingredient to use this time of year. Made a maple brown butter bourbon pecan pie for thanksgiving, and let me just say... it was amazing.

I omitted the cloves as I have none in the pantry. I substituted a little nutmeg.
