Not buffalo style, but baked in a thick, sweet/tangy sauce, and served without a dip. I had some years ago that a woman brought to a party, and they were the most delicious wings ever! Everyone raved over them. I had hoped to get the recipe from her, but sadly, she died unexpectedly a few weeks later. The wings were not your typical buffalo style wings, they were more barbecue-style. I am allergic to soy and peanuts, so they were not cooked with soy sauce or in peanut oil. I did taste something sweet like molasses, or brown sugar, plus they had a tart flavor. Has anyone got any recipes for a wing dish like this? My family has been craving them ever since, but I can't seem to find a similar recipe.

There are some standard baked chicken wing recipes. This sounds close, but it is with soy.

However, a soy substitute would be balsamic vinegar, ginger, molasses. Here's a recipe for it.

Worcestershire sauce is another sub, but add slowly and taste as you go along. The lime, mustard, ginger or balsamic could be the tanginess you tasted. Or it could have been a tart fruit like raspberry preserves.

This is the recipe for the sauce they use for the chicken wings at 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian resort and they are awesome! Very thick, sweet and tangy would describe these wings to me...

Ugh...just re-read your post and saw you are allergic to soy...maybe you could mix with beef consommé instead of soy sauce?
