Exactly. At 27, the "promise" should be in the form of an engagement ring if he is actually serious about marrying you. Sounds like he's not, just gave you something to make you happy, keep you quiet and hanging around. (not saying this is the case but it sounds possible...only you know)

That's what I was wondering.

Sounds like she's 13 or 14.

Promise rings.

What is it? A dried out fruit loop.

So I'm told this ring is the first step. If he only knew her a short while I can see how this makes sense. Not every guy wants to or is willing to go out and buy a engagement ring that costs "X" right at the start. This is also supposed to wart off other men. Whatever, how the hell would I know?LOL......

Ha!! I remember I once made one out of the pull tabs on the tops of drinks. Broke off the tab part and kept the ring....ah, the good ol' days.

My boyfriend (8th grade) didn't see it as a sign of commitment either, he was hanging out with another middle schooler the next week. Too much pressure I guess.

I have to agree. The OP needs to rent the movie "He's just not that into you".

So how long does the promise ring buy you? One year, two, three?? At the age of 27, I'm sorry Rugged, it's a little far into the game of life to play "building blocks" with trinkets of commitment.

I agree with not committing until you're ready.....so keep your rings until then. However, bring out the serious promise ring.....and engagement one when you are.
