No, no formal counseling, but we kind of counseled ourselves by having many deep discussions about money, family, kids, housing, long-term goals, living arrangements, spending habits, chores, etc.
Then we discussed everyone else's marriage we knew (friends, family, strangers on tv) and discussed the aspects we did and didn't like about them.
Then we also read a bunch of books that discussed personalities, couples interaction, marriage tips, quizzes, checklists, etc.
We knew exactly what we were getting into when we walked down the aisle.

but you are basically asking people to think before they do something very emotional. if they did-- few would marry.
My mom and dad perform marriage counseling. I never ask what they talk about and they don't tell but they have said similar things about people they have counseled.
The marriage counselling came well after the marriage started, and helped me decide I'd made a bad choice. But it did help me make a FAR better choice the second time!
