My wife and I do this, and find it a way to say the dirty things to each other that we may find to embarassing to say verbally. It is really is fun and makes a boring night(when we are apart--we both travel alot) a little more spicy(especially with pics) :-)
Humans have been titillating one another via written word for centuries. The technology behind the conveyance of the message may change over time, but as long as we have imagination and written language such communication will continue for centuries more.
I think its lame. Its about as cool as "dirty talk" that just makes me laugh my butt off. Purpose: something to talk about when you are too stupid or lazy to come up with something else.
