You need a new set of friends. Seriously, that age and mirroring their lives from a TV show. Believe it or not, I've never watched one show of Sex in the City. Have no interest in those type of women. They are very immature and if they don't watch it, they'll be 40 y.o. , still not married and still acting like that. And that would be pathetic. So either get new friends or become pathetic like them.
First of all, being 40 and not married is not pathetic
However, i do agree, the OP's friends sound very stupid.
Oh, I feel bad and feel for you! I had lady friends who would constantly TRY and compare their lives to "The Hills", "Desperate Housewives", "Sex and the City" and cause unnecessary drama and scenarios just to have their lives be like that in the social circle.
For my nerdy guy friends, everything is "EPIC" which is really flipping annoying and they're always referencing or talking in movie or video games quotes, which can be fine here and there but ALL the time it's a flipping pisser.

I don't think Donie1 was saying that if they are 40 and not married would be pathetic but rather how they'll be acting at that age and making their lives difficult for themselves.

I see... I think acting like they are acting is pretty juvenile.

No, you and another poster have it wrong on what I meant or maybe I wrote it wrong. I think it would be pathetic being 40 y.o. and still not married because of your behavior. Not pathetic because you're 40 and not married.

I think I got it. No problem. But maybe they do not want to get married. I know Samantha, MIranda and Carrie didn't.
I have a group of "friends" that, every time I hang out with them, there is a reference made to the characters from Sex and the City ATLEAST one time and it has really began to annoy me.
I have one friend who continues to date this worthless guy that she knows is cheating on her. My friends..."OMG, Carrie and Big"
I have another friend who is constantly miserable and complaining..."OMG, Miranda"
I have another friend who sleeps with a different guy practically every night and loves it....yep you guessed it...."OMG, Samantha"
It is really annoying!! This past weekend, we went to a really nice restaurant and had our own private room for one of my friend's birthday. As soon as we walk in..."OMG, this is Sooo Sex and the City!" AHHHH I don't understand it!!
I could understand that it's just for fun if it was just once in a while, but this is allll the time!! I just don't see the point in a group of 28-32 year old females continuously equating themselves to a group of promiscuous 40+ year old females, who constantly went through "drama". It's like you're speaking that into your life and your future...umm, No Thanks!!
What is up with this??? Does anyone else to do this with their friends?? Am I missing something??
People who cannot separate reality from television fiction bother me. It smacks of some kind of mental disorder.
You might try reminding them that those people are not real, and none of the stuff on television is REALLY happening, and then look at them in a way that demonstrates that you are concerned for their mental health.
I have never seen the show, personally, but what I have read it does not sound like the kind of life I would be proud to emulate.

You just have a bunch of unoriginal friends who are very impressionable.
Now you have to figure out if you want to spend time with them.
