This is strange behavior. Those are your friends, so it's up to you to deal or leave.

As a women, we all have one friend in our group like one of those characters.

This show was entertainment. It has been many threads on SATC in the past. Reality is, some live their lives as these women. The thing is, women were living in this manner before this show. Please stop blaming their behavior on SATC. It isn't so. So many women spend countless amounts of money on fashion. In debt behind their addiction to the latest trend. Bad relationships and so on.

UGH, that would make me want to jump into a trash compactor.

Or, more accurately, make THEM jump into a trash compactor.

How about having friends that would compare their lives to "Family guy?"

Ditch them if they're seriously doing this; Take a break from them every other weekend and find some new friends.

I've never watched the show so maybe these friends don't want to get married and want to live their lives like the characters on this show. Whatever floats your boat.

I had a friend who watched the series religiously and who went and saw the movie.

I looked at the series one time for five minutes, and never turned it on again.

Man, your friends...*sigh*

I know it's not as simple as 'get new friends,' because these are people I assume you've known for a long time and you have a bond with...but geezus...emotionally immature at the very least.

Have you voiced your concerns with them?

Make them watch the movies so they see that at some point, all these women GREW THE HELL UP and went on to lead normal adult lives (somewhat)...

I have one friend who continues to date this worthless guy that she knows is cheating on her. My friends..."OMG, Carrie and Big"

I have another friend who is constantly miserable and complaining..."OMG, Miranda"

I have another friend who sleeps with a different guy practically every night and loves it....yep you guessed it...."OMG, Samantha"

It is really annoying!! This past weekend, we went to a really nice restaurant and had our own private room for one of my friend's birthday. As soon as we walk in..."OMG, this is Sooo Sex and the City!" AHHHH I don't understand it!!

I could understand that it's just for fun if it was just once in a while, but this is allll the time!! I just don't see the point in a group of 28-32 year old females continuously equating themselves to a group of promiscuous 40+ year old females, who constantly went through "drama". It's like you're speaking that into your life and your future...umm, No Thanks!!

What is up with this??? Does anyone else to do this with their friends?? Am I missing something??

My friends and I talk about it here and there, but we don't point each other out as characters. Although, there have been a few times where something would happen and it would remind us about an episode. We do tend to almost attempt to live as lavishly as they do too.

I love that show!

Obviously, you're not missing anything, it's probably not your thing.

Lots of people do that with a variety of shows, from Modern Family to The Cosby Show. People seem to get really worked up about Sex and the City for some strange reason.

Oh for goodness sake - who cares!

I think SATC is fun and if they can identify with someone on the show then who cares? Why does it bother you so much?

I guess if it's EVERY time you see them it might be a bit much, but I just can't imagine letting such a small issue bother me so much that I would end friendships with people who I had known and liked for years!
