My temperature guage are the hillchucks that live behind me. He likes to wait until 8pm on a Sunday night to fire up his power tools and mow the little bit of lawn he has left, then the saw and the burn barrel, which is against the law, and they sit in their lawn chairs tossing empty beer cans at the burn barrel, missing most of the time, and then doing the wave. For those of you not familiar with the term 'hillchuck' it's from my own vocabulary and is a brother to billy - hillbilly. Chuck -Hillchuck is a suburban hillbilly.

Welcome to summer.

Poor dogwalker! At least she made it through this winter without becoming an icicle! Or maybe she moved at the end of it... What am I talking about?! It's probably STILL winter!

funny.

Hey Sifu Phil, I noticed in another thread you mentioned a few things about some chinese herbs. Have you read "Scholar Warrior" by Deng Meng Dao? Its required reading for my students at a certain level in their training. The author lists some pretty good Chinese herbal recipies for health. In addition to the herbal soups/teas, etc. he talks about some really interesting things relating to the martial arts and living as a Scholar Warrior. I know you would really enjoy.

Another couple of really good reads that I know you would enjoy - "Living The Martial Way" by Forrest Morgan and "Chronicles of Dao" by Deng Meng Dao (one of my favorite books of all time).

Heh, heh - all three are on my "Bible" list, along with most of the traditional Taoist canon - those books I hold near and dear, though I no longer have them in the flesh (or perfect-bound #50 printer weight pages).

Parts of "Living The Martial Way" were required reading and discussion in my school also.

LOL, our bedroom is probably in the mid-60s in the wintertime. It's the coldest room in the house.

I love spring and fall, when it's cool at night. Open the windows. Being in a snug bed in the cool or even cold air is so nice. So much better than lying there and sweltering.
