Regarding online dating, has anyone made plans, gone out with someone and then had them continue to use the websites messaging service to stay in touch even if they have your phone number?

I've had this happen a few times and judging by my experience, it's not usually a good sign.

If someone has your phone number and you've met, why would they continue to use the websites messaging component to keep in touch?

I think once you meet in person you should use the phone to communicate. Or at least switch to personal e-mail. Why would you need the dating website anymore?

How did your Thai food date go?

Nope. Once we exchange numbers, I cease communication through the online portal. It defeats the purpose to continue using it after the number exchange.

Ditto. Acquiring minds want to know.

Hmmm, what happens if you answer the email with a text to his phone?

It went fairly well...then he messaged me on the website (we had exchanged numbers) asking if I wanted to go out again. I said yes, he hasn't contacted me since.

I texted a guy that I went out with after he sent me a message, and he responded with a message on the site.

So weird.

I don't know what type of guys you are dealing with in your area, but they all sound dense. It's like the go out of their way to do things ass backwards!

I tend to be attracted to the 'nerdy/socially awkward' type of guy so I'm thinking that may be part of it.

Other than that..who knows? I just don't think I'm cut out for dating in general.

That's hogwash. I think when dealing with nerdy/socially awkward people, they are even worse when they can hide behind their computer monitor. Continue to be attracted to these types of people, but try and get a friend or acquaintance to set you up.

Well, I've been 'dating' for 3 years now and have never gone past 3 dates with the same person...that's really not a good sign.

I don't really have any close friends out here yet, so I wouldn't be comfortable asking them to set me up with anyone.
