OH yeah! If the parents refused to send out for the overlay and crayon kit, the kids would just draw right on the screen itself! They sold a fancier kit in the toy stores, though - it was like $3 at the time - a small fortune.

It was an innocent time.

Yeah, I read that in the article. I can just imagine how much the parents were loving this deal.

The only times I can remember low costs was in the 90s, where I could fill up my gas tank for less than 20 bucks.

Now 30 bucks doesn't even fill my tank up!

Okay, now I'm getting envious! Where did both of you (Phil and Irishiis) grow up? Was it a regional show?

I'm trying to downscale.... smaller job, smaller house, smaller footprint in life in general....

I'm going in the opposite direction from most people....climbing the corporate ladder and getting a head....

It isn't nearly as glamorous as it may look.

Just one? No, it doesn't sound glamorous at all.

It was on CBS in NY - I was watching it in '62-'64. I can only imagine that it was also in some other affiliate stations, at least on the East coast. Remember - back in those days the TV signals were weak and couldn't make the trip across the country without spending a few nights in cheap motels ...

Ah, well... I'm sure I would have loved it.
