The man is installing a new sink and dishwasher. I went to Lowe's with him the first time to pick out the faucet. The second time was to get some silicone junk in a tube. The tube burst out the back (think of the wrong end of the toothpaste tube opening and toothpaste gooping out), so I had to go back and get something else.
I don't think you have Menard's in California. They are a big box hardware store but not as big as Home Depot or Lowe's--I think they are midwest only. Their selection and prices are okay, but they are staffed with the biggest bunch of minimum-wage morons ever. Don't go there.
Home improvements are time consuming and expensive. Sometimes I wonder why we bother to own a home instead of renting. But then I look at the cool green bathroom and that sense of satisfaction at a job well done for your own edification just reinforces buying your own home is a great choice.

I've been to Menard's twice, Lowe's three times, Costco, Target, Trader Joe's and the grocery store today. I am bushed.
LOL, we were just talking about that. I do that all the time. I think I might be an amateur agoraphobic, LOL. I try to make myself spread it out throughout the week, but I usually just end up going one day, half a dozen stores. By the time I'm done, I'm usually exhausted, probably more emotionally than physically.
By the way, I made the mistake of trying the Belgian Butter Almond Thins from Trader Joe's. I came home exhausted, grabbed the box, and thought, Well, I'll just try a couple of these, see how they are. That was my first mistake. Even Chow was impressed, and he's not a big sweets guy.
Aaaaand he has to go back to Lowe's to exchange a part before they close at 10. At least I don't have to go this time.
We do love working on the house, Djuna. I think we have projects scheduled through the end of July, though. Sometimes I just like to sit around and look at a magazine or something. Pass the Belgian Butter Almond Thins, please, Sea.

To be honest, Julia, I don't feel comfortable doing that. I can't quite forgive myself for even mentioning them to you. They ARE thin. And buttery. And almond-y. Okay, maybe they're not THAT good. But pretty close.
EDIT: Also, when you first sniff/taste them, they resemble graham crackers, which are okay, but... Then they somehow morph into something else entirely.
