More important than the degree is the attitude towards education. I preferred, and ran in a crowd with college educated peers, most of us now having advanced degrees. When actively dating, I did not dismiss the men who did not have degrees, but if their attitudes conveyed a hint of disdane for further education, learning, exploring, being challenged or bettering themselves in some way, it was a deal breaker.
College is not for everyone, many degrees are only stepping stones to training programs, the school of hard knocks, or further education. However, in this day and age I find it important to recognize that skilled workers (trained, apprenticed, journeyman~however they get there) and those with the enthusiasm to better themselves professionally; whether it be continuing education classes, recertifications, additional training for advanced technology, or more classes would be more important than a degreed piece of paper.
It's a must although I'm ok with a girl who's making good progress towards attaining a college degree. Compared to men without college degrees, women without college degrees don't have good career paths (no offense, but overall they're not as good in the skilled trades) so I'd be worried she couldn't hold her own financially if she didn't have a degree.
I agree college isn't for everyone, but it's important to me that they still have some sort of plan: i.e. Military, family business, creating own business, etc.
I think I would have more in common with someone who went to school, because I'm one who enjoys learning and being challenged, and it seems most guys who have gone to college are more apt to share that ideal.
