Societal conformity is dear to me, and my desires align with this trend.

However, there are uncompromisable exceptions.

About time. Marriage is nothing but a losing proposition for men.

Interesting... I wasn’t under this impression. Unless you're being sarcastic...

Society progresses whether some want it to or not. Next thing ya know, there will be a decline in christianity and more people who support regulated capitalism. I love progress.

America has some difficult issues to face when it comes to many social things , but given the degree of narcissism and entitlement attitudes, it will forever be on a downward spiral.

LOL you guys are WRONG. *whips out Zena Warrior Princess shield and sword*

As a person going through a divorce, marriage property distribution generally only benefits the partner who has the fewest assets. I guess typically this is the woman, but it can easily be the man. I know a woman who had to pay her POS ex child support and alimony, and my "better half" LOL is currently attempting to abscond with my hard-earned stuff.

Studies (if they are to be believed) have shown that men are HAPPIER during marriage...and in my personal experience my husband benefited much more than I did financially, and emotionally from our marriage. Contrary to what I was led to believe by movies and romance novels, women end up taking care of the man and not the other way around...

*Sheathes sword*

So there.

Sure, back when women weren't considered "persons", men had it real good in marriages.

That's not what I meant...

I meant, that the recent prevalence of en masse divorce / divorce a la carte, is a very undesirable trait of modern life. When divorces occur, more often than not, it is the man / ex-husband who suffers the brunt of the financial consequences, not the ex-wife.
