I was out getting some pizza today after my exam and I was sitting down. I saw a man and woman walk in and they were waiting in line. The woman said she couldn't get into the car to grab something.. the guy started shouting and her, dangled the keys in front of her face and said " ARE YOU STUPID? YOU NEED TO USE THE KEYS TO GET IN THE CAR THATS WHY I HAVE THEM!"
The rest of the time they were around eachother, the guy pouted and acted like he was all pissed about the keys. It was sad because you could tell he abused her, the way she acted towards his verbal abuse, you could see her just cower. It was pretty obvious the guy was a pretty terrible person too.
It got me thinking, we're lucky that the divorce rate is high. We're lucky to live in a society that women (or men) are allowed to leave their spouses without being looked down upon and shunned from society. That women have the freedom to be able to make it on their own and not have to depend on men.

Yeah, sounds like she was taking advantage of that freedom, right?

Yea we got that part down pat, now all she has to do is make sure he doesn't come back around to kill her.
Many women (& some men) have to put up with abusive spouses/living arrangements..some stay regardless of having an opportunity to leave and others may never get that opportunity. I feel like your post's tone is trite/sarcastic in some way though...
Unusually high div rate probably has a lot more to do with maturity and social influences/situations than abusive SO.
Good thing you didn't.
I hate to say this but these days its dangerous stepping into a scene like that.
You never know how that could backfire on you.
Best to stay out of it.
