If his game is tight, he will have plenty to offer women. Women objectively like game just like men objectively like pretty faces. Older men often usually have an advantage over younger men because they've been in the game longer, have more experience, and have a better understanding of how to turn women on. A 50-year old bartender may not score 19-year old girls on Spring Break (though I wouldn't put it past him), but he'll definitely clean up with the 35+ crowd. Think Steve from Sex and the City. He was getting laid like gangbusters!

When I lived in France, the bartender at my favorite watering hole had to be about 50. But this guy had young women, white women, black women, mixed women, older women, all giggling and exposing their cleavage to him. He had a certain je ne sais quoi for sure. He was just good with women. An older man with game can enjoy a mulititude of options right up to the very end of his life.

He is not a jerk or a bully, he knows he is serving the pack, and although he gets certain benefits he is also the one that must put all the weight of leadership on his shoulders, with the risks and worries. "heavy is the head that wears the crown." He must be calm, fair, unshakable, and fearless. In modern times, usually the "alpha male" of a particular social circle is the one who has the most of these traits. Someone with these traits doesn't need to show off. Women dig this because in the pack, it means that she will get special privileges and benefits, as well as the ego boost of having been the one chosen by the Top Dawg.
Oh really?

If you surveyed most guys, I bet a majority of them would say that the hottest girls they know are not/were not involved with guys who are anything like the guy you described above. While women are attracted to conventionally high status men (i.e., senators, doctors, lawyers), they are equally attracted to men who exhibit the traits of personality or psychosocial dominance (and psychopathy, Machiavellianism and narcissism). There aren't many guys like your prototypical "alpha male," but there are plenty of club promoters, wannabe musicians, and DJs who absolutely clean up with the hottest chicks. So it stands to reason that the average guy more often sees a hot chick on the arm of an underemployed douchebag than he does on the arm of a CEO.

King Arthur's high status (can you really get any higher than that?) didn't stop Guinevere from running to the arms of badboy Sir Launcelot, did it? Let's see, Arthur had a whole shining city. Launcelot lived in the woods. Yet Guinevere's heart was with Launcelot. Women's attraction for the unattainable Launcelot is often stronger than it is for the very noble (and available) King Arthur.

Are you referring to yourself as a douche bag?

I still haven't quite figured out your angle. Is this thread in reference to you and your own personal struggles with the opposite sex?

Are you the douche bag narcissist, or are you the "nice" guy?

Personally, I don't consider myself a douche bag and I have never really struggled with picking up women when I actually make a concerted effort to put myself out there. "In the mirror, where I see my only enemy..." In other words, my struggles with dating/women come from within. Confidence (don't mistake that for douche baggery) goes a long way in the world of dating. Perhaps that is your dilemma?
