Why do people think that getting married and/or having kids makes you mature or more mature?

I don't agree with this.

You could be Single with no kids and be very responsible, educated and have lot of experience in life OR you could be married with kids and be broke, not caring, lazy, etc. I could go on and on.

Two words: Status Quo.

Some people never want to think outside the box.

Well, being married does not necessarily make you a mature person, though some mistakenly think it makes them appear more grown up.

If you aren't truly "grownup" though, the marriage won't last.

Now having kids SHOULD sober you up real quick and make you grow up pretty fast if you aren't already.

Failure to be a real grownup when you bring kids into the world is a real disaster for everyone, especially the child/children.

Take a look at our divorce rate-this shows you how immature people are-it takes a mature person to want to work through problems

Right. I mean the standard is that go to college after high school, get a job, get married and have kids. Why should everyone do this to be accepted?

I would say having children reaches a benchmark of maturity in our current society along with marriage, buying a house, etc.

Why? Because you can't be in a successful marriage and be immature.

You can also grow up real fast without kids though.

Have a child. It is a whole new world that no one knows until they see it for themselves.
