Either permanently or for a period of time, in order to 'find oneself', or just to spiritually recharge by withdrawing from the world? This may include joining a convent, commune or some other sort of retreat, but in other words, a withdrawal from mainstream society into a world of seclusion.
I've considered this several times. While I do need some social interaction, the idea of living a semi-hermit like existence in some rural area for a few years does appeal to me, or joining some sort of commune. Obviously this would mainly apply to people who are single, or have a willing accomplice. Sometimes I just feel modern life isn't all it's cracked up to be. Maybe the simple life away from the hustle and bustle might be better for many of us?
Sometimes I have that moment where I want to "Enjoy The Silence" moment (video). Every now and then I dream of sitting on top of a mountain with a chair and just cashing out.
I have thought about this idea a lot, especially the older I get. I have a hard time with other people. I can deal with people to the extent I need to and can get along and all that....it's just that I'd rather not have to. Living a hermit-like existence with my DH would be perfectly fine by me.
Definitely. I sometimes envy the Amish. It seems like such a nice, peaceful existence, where you would actually have time to enjoy life.
I don't know about that. They do nothing but back breaking work and read the bible and have sex only for children.
I mean I might do the back breaking work, but I'm not just having sex just for some kids.
