I hope this is the right place to post this.

I am at my wits end with this neighbor. I've lived here for 6 years and every single summer me and other neighbors are made miserable. Why ? you ask...because....

This guy spends the entire summer tuning and reving this drag car at least 3-4 times a week. During this time you can't hear yourself think, you can't eat a decent meal you've prepared, you can't watch tv or talk on the phone and forget about having friends over and sitting outside with an icy beverage to enjoy breezes. He's completely spontaneous with it too and it always seems to coincide with a time you really want/need personal enjoyment of your home.

I hate summers because of this redneck. Seriously. So why am I writing this now in the dead of February ?

Because he's now taken to making the winters seriously noisy as well where previously this area was nice and quiet during the winter.

NOW he has spent the entire winter running noisy power tools, saws etc. It's either he's running a mechanics shop from his garage or he's building a effing space ship in there.

I just don't get how clueless and rude some neighbors can be. Everytime I see his garage door open I tense up inside because it never means anything good. It means HOURS of off and on earsplitting "VRRRRRRRRRRRoooom....VRRRRRRRRRRRR".

I don't want to call the police, because I know they'll say if the noise is during the daytime hours there's nothing they can do.

How would you guys handle this ?

There goes the neighborhood. Rednecks are worse than pimps and hos when it comes to property values.

Except we're talking about constant noise, WB.

I'm usually a pacifist type, but when this goes on non-stop I start wishing inside that he'd slip and cut off an arm or something. I've also thought about recording the noise and playing it back outside his bedroom window at night.

And with regards to moving or "letting it roll off my back..seriously"... should all of the surrounding neighbors have to move ? It's hard to let earsplitting noise roll off your back when you're sitting outside in the shade on a hot day trying to have a convo with a friend who's visiting from another state that you haven't seen in years. We can't even have our windows open during the summer while this guys tinkering.

There's an idea. Put it on some large speakers and crank that baby. But seriously, all that's going to do is start a Hatfield and McCoys type war and those never turn out with a winner. I'd probably just consider buying a piece of property large enough to where your neighbors aren't close enough to affect you that much.

hahaha, depends on what you prefer. You either get rap music and gunshots or cars in the front yard and country music.

What the other neighbors say about that? If they feel like you, there might be something you all can do as a joint force. But if its only you who complaint about the noise and everyone else is fine with it, then you have a more difficult problem to solve.

Anyone check into zoning restrictions?
Personally I would talk to him first, then proceed.
