This is a spin-off thread on the thread originally titled "Ladies - Bad Boys. What is the attraction? Why do you keep falling from them?" Except in this thread, rather than talk about girls who like the "bad boy", the discussion topic is the (somewhat rarer) girl who only likes the "good guys" a.k.a. "nice guys" (note: *not* the "fake" nice guys). I personally know that gals who truly like nice guys exist through direct interaction with more than one, on the rare occasion...but in my exp., they are also admittedly much fewer and far-between than the usual gal, who more typically likes the bad boy.

So how about it? What do you think would make a girl tend to like a good guy a.k.a. nice guy? Is it because they are nicer themselves, on average, than gals who like bad boys? Is it because they are more introverted? More shy? In short, what would tend to make a girl like a nice guy, and not a bad boy, and why do you think this phenomenon is so much rarer to begin with, and not as common as the girl who likes the bad boy?

Sometimes it's shyness. Sometimes it's being "bookish." Sometimes it's the way their Dads were - i.e. beta-providers. Sometimes it's the way their Dads weren't - they were abused, so a "nice guy" is less threatening to them. These are 4 scenarios I've seen.

I guess they're just tired of all the drama bad boys inhabit.

Had the bad guys and realized that they are jerks. True nice guys are very rare though. Many fake ones.

Question: Does being a nice guy mean being a pushover? My Dad was a nice guy, despite being patriarchal and having a direct, strong personality. Everybody liked him.

They are potential bf or husband material rather than the loud, obnoxious, party animals.

Sometimes the nice guys can be too nice. They don't want to hurt your feelings so they may stay longer in a relationship than they should because they don't know how to break it off. On the flip side sometimes nice guys overcompensate and do more for you than they should.

A nice guy with high self esteem is a true gem because they are confident enough in who they are without coming off as needy or clingy.

Bad boys have a certain sex appeal but are hardly worth the time, I'll take a nice guy any day.

I have no way to prove this, but I believe it boils down to self-confidence. I believe that woman are generally drawn more to men with confidence, versus those without. And I believe that, at least early in life, the "bad boys" are the ones who are perceived as being more confident than the "nice guys". I used to be a very nice looking guy, but was shy and didn't have much self-confidence; consequently, I didn't attract women, at least desirable ones. Once I hit middle age, though, something happened to boost that self-confidence, and I immediately saw that some pretty nice gals were sitting up and taking notice!!!! :-)

Why is everyone so black and white around here?

You do realise every single person in the world has a good and bad side? There are no completely bad boys, nor completely good guys.

Such one dimensional thinking...sheesh.
