I am a single 26 year old male who is straight edge (no drugs, no alcohol, no smoking, no sexual promiscuity). I realize that the majority of people drink, do drugs, and participate in other debauchery.
So, I see smoking and drinking are on par with doing drugs, sexual promiscuity, and debauchery! OK, enjoy your straight edge! Oh, and please don't come back to this forum to whine about lack of sex once you get your straight-edged half!

People do change. When I was in my early 20s, I partied, club-hopped, drank too much on the weekends and basically wore myself out. I was never into the drug scene, but I more tolerant of guys who went out and got smashed because I was in the same place at that stage of life. Does that mean I'm hypocritical because I don't want a man who gets sh*tfaced on Friday night?
I realize that this is an extreme example, but ... yes, people do change. They learn and grow from their pasts. That's a darned good thing!
But it was okay for him to do it.
That's hypocrisy, double standard, etc.
Do you think that they should all go to jail for breaking the law?
It's just another, I've got mine/I did it but you can't, ********* attitude.

I dunno. I don't think he was saying that. I got the impression that he was saying that it wasn't OK. In retrospect, it wasn't OK for me. If I had a chance for a "do-over" ...
Who's "they?" And go to jail for what? Io non capisco.

Somehow I doubt that Richard Feynman did. If he did, that would surprise me. The man was way too "on" all of the time.
I am a writer, and yes, I am signed, repped and published. I mingle with everyone from newbies to established mid-listers to NYT best sellers. None of the published authors I know smoke pot or do drugs. The publishing world is high stress, high pressure. You bring your A-game to the table or fall by the wayside.
A lot of them might be type A personalities, who thrive on high stress/high pressure.
I doubt you know what all them are doing when they close the door behind them at nite. I'm not saying they're regular drug users, but I'd bet they have a script bottle or two around.
If I did what? I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're talking about.
Drugs; partying
Isn't that what you were talking about in your post?
The one where you referenced mine on the same topic.
