It isn't always as easy as just up and getting a divorce. Personally, I needed to gain the confidence to even tell my ex husband there was a problem. There are stepping blocks to every situation.
Why do people stay in bad marriages, when it is clear the spouse is a deadbeat.
Is it really that bad going thru divorce when it is ruining your life.
Lots of reasons people stay together
-financial (maybe they would both take a huge monetary loss if they divorced)
-health reasons
-kids
-religious beliefs
-because they feel they need to "do the right thing" and honor their commitment
-fear of being lonely/alone
-they care so much about what others think of them that they'd rather be in a mediocre marriage than divorce
-feel comfortable playing the martyr and are happier when they are miserable and have something to complain about
true rate is 67% 1st time 79% second time. 70% of divorces filed by women.
the temptation to file is great. 1/4 million settlement and a chance to slap old baldy around with a lawyer and shut him up about your spending with 1 single call to sleazy breezy divorce attorney inc. 42 million women made this move since 1975. there might have been some negative social impact but hey --we cant let that interfere with our happiness can we?
btw penn state studies show men are significiantly more happy than women.
Financial is a big one. It's easier to support one income on two salaries than two incomes on two salaries. This is especially important when you are talking about places high cost of living.
Fear. People may bury it in a ton of other excuses, but fear is what it boils down to.
