Well most people are lying on those things, or at the very least being liberal with the truth, so essentially you can talk about any damn thing you want.
I have zero problems talking to anyone about anything but I will delete a contact almost immediately if he
1. talks about sex
2. doesn't reply with answers that are conducive to conversation, eg
Q how are you today
A fine thanks
Q do you work
A yes Im an accountant/truckdriver (whatever)
Q hows this dating site working for you
A good I've met a few.
A GOOD answer needs to encompass at least PRETENDED interest in the other persons experience/thoughts/opinions, therefore should include a question.
An example -
Q hows this dating site working for you
A good I've met a few.....how about you?

Someone who struggles with conversation in life, will struggle online.
Boring? No, not at all. But back when I was dating, I wasn't going to decide that I would or wouldn't date a guy based on his job. I dated lawyers, actors, pilots and janitors. I would eventually converse about our jobs, but since that topic wasn't going to determine whether the initial emails went any further, it didn't seem like it was worth bringing up immediately.

Since most of us spend at least half our lives working, it is a relevant topic. Boring maybe, but a big part of our life.
I'd tell you some conversation tips, but since you never listen or take any constructive advice, I won't bother.
