It used to be; I spent many a Saturday watching the home improvement shows and such. A person could really pick up good ideas from those shows. I think the "Trading Spaces" series put them on the path they are currently on. TLC got a taste of high rating success with that show and now do what they can to keep the ratings, as you have pointed out.

I saw a few minutes of that cougar show with the really old lady who was talking about how she gets, uh, excited over young men. *vomit* I mover on after that.
