Uncircumsized partner and painful hygiene question (date, woman, attracted, alcohol)

My partner is uncircumsized. Often there is an odor from that area which is offputting during intimacy. I have asked him to be more diligent about washing and he has a clean bill of health. He tries, but the odor is there anytime he does not wash directly before interaction, which can put a cramp in spontaneity. Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel badly even bringing this up with him, as I know its a topic that no one would really want to hear.

DON"T be embrassed to ask him to clean down there! If anything else you need to be down right blunt about it. I'm uncut & I make SURE I'm clean not just for health reasons but for my woman as well. That's just nasty!
As an uncut male, I wash when I shower in the morning and again before I go to bed at night. I have never had any complaints at any time of the day or night when following that routine. If you are spontaneously initiating and struggling with this, perhaps keeping some sanitary wipes nearby and cleaning it for him might be a possibility.
It may not be a matter of cleanliness. Some people are just naturally muskier.
Maybe it's a pheromone thing, too. Aren't people who are really attracted to each other supposed to just naturally smell good to each other? I remember an article from a few years ago that said something like that.
I was joking in this instance but I did date someone who I really think should've had it done. His foreskin wouldn't retract.
