I'm going to be 24 this year and I've already made up my mind that I do not want any children. I have very little interest in the lives of children beyond the age of 5. They just don't interest me and I don't find pregnancy very appealing at all. Womens bodies go through a lot during those nine months..I like being child-free, and having financial independence. However, I am starting to feel immense pressure from family/friends to be a mother..many of my friends from high school are getting pregnant left and right. I am one of the last few who has not had a baby yet. Sometimes I think I should have a baby just to get it out the way and get people off my back...but then other times I think maybe not.

No. And good for you, that you know that you are not interested in kids. God only knows we have too many idiots out here with kids who have no business being parents.

No children here. I wanted a high powered career and could never serve two masters. It was the right decision for me, I have no regrets.

If I am freak..so be it!

Right, have a baby at 24, unmarried. Yeah, that'll work....

OP, surely you jest? Lots of people, men and women, opt to be child-free. Enjoy your freedom. Blow off your friends and family in this regard, and be true to yourself. You're not a cookie-cutter person. If you live in a conservative area, consider moving, or consider finding more progressive friends to hang out with.

Not in the slightest. I didn't want kids until I did (my first was born when I was 30).

Enjoy being footloose and fancy free.

No, I don't believe you are a freak at all. It's a personal choice.

But please tell people, especially the ones you are dating, that you do not want kids. For instance I would not date a woman that does not want kids, because I want children eventually.

There are many guys who are not interested in kids either, so it shouldn't be a problem.

OP, take a look at the "Hey, any other child-free people around here?" thread that's just been revived. You're in good company.

Where is what? A more progressive region? West Coast, Southwest, NYC, Northeast. Chicago, too, from what I've heard. Probably Florida.

Where do you live? I never knew anyone who had kids in their 20's.
