I have never known a woman to require or look for a particular car in a guy. To some degree, they seem to universally like guys who are able to afford transportation as it helps "going out." (At least around here, Buffalo doesn't have much in the way of public transit).
Having a car or not is a big deal, sure (unless you're still in High School).
What you drive is immaterial. Any woman that digs some dude because of his Jag is superficial and materialistic. Thus a cipher. A decent, hard-working, funny guy who drives an '81 Diesel Rabbit is head and shoulders over some superficial, HIV-plagued playa driving a new Benz. And if you're dating a female who disputes this, dump her vapid ass ASAP.
Yes. I drive a domestic car, out of principle and because I've had great luck with them. In the West, I have gotten an "Eeeww" or two, in that the car wasn't cool. It's basic GM mid-size stuff. My attitude is "eff you."
The only reason I'd care what a woman drove is if it indicated something about her leanings. If she had a Subaru or a pick-up truck, and so did ALL her women friends, I'd be wondering what the hell was up. And if she had a Melissa Etheridge CD playing, it would be even worse.
If you don't have a car because you don't want one, you'd be okay. Or you could have any car, as long as it runs reliably and is clean enough to sit in.
But if I were really in the market for a man, I'd like for him to own something that tells me he has a decent job and some freaking common sense on how he spends his money.

For the most part owning things is an indication that one does not know how to spend their money.
That doesn't make any sense...but it's C-D so, par for the course.
