I jokingly say this too. Obviously it's not true but a little irrational confidence is a far better failing than not enough.

But, if you catch them checking you out (or somebody else catches them checking you out), they like. They give you that startled "I see a hot guy" look, and then usually turn away fast because they know they got caught checking you out. But you know the "I'm attracted" eye contact when you see it, regardless of how long it lasts.

I think interest is a spectrum, too...like me, personally, can be somewhat interested in women, but perhaps not enough to want to date them. I think these questions ignore the subtle complexities of human nature.

Answer: It's very easy, from the word "no". Of course that means you have to actually ask the yes-no giver out for a date, instead of asking for the answer here.
